New marine diesel generator sets project is in progress
Technical specialists of ZVEZDA-ENERGETIKA, JSC have started the implementation of the project concerning the construction of the marine diesel generator sets based on the engine 16V250MDC produced by General Electric. This project is being implemented for Rosneft, PJSC
In the framework of the project 8 marine diesel generator sets with the unit capacity power of 4,7 MW are to be constructed. The following work is to be completed: frame units manufacturing, installation of the engines and generators on the frames, equipment centering and installation of the auxiliary equipment including all necessary systems of the unit. After the completion of construction and conduction of the tests results, all of the sets will be demonstrated to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping commissioner and the certificates of RMRS for each unit will be issued. All the production tests will be conducted on the test bench owned by the Company. In order to examine the equipment, the test bench will be adjusted to the specific requirements of the project.
The machinery in question is designed for the Icebreaker 7 – multipurpose sea vessels of enhanced ice class. These vessels are being constructed on the shipbuilding complex “Star Marine Technologies”, which is a part of the Rosneft company group. The complex is located in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorskiy region, Russia.
The ships under construction will be delivering cargo to offshore drilling platforms and providing their icebreaking support. Such vessels are used for ships towing and offshore facilities and can participate in rescue operations. Furthermore, they are able to extinguish fires and eliminate oil spills. Until now such ships were built only in Finland, Norway and other countries.
The project in question is included in the State Fleet Construction Program for the development of the Arctic region within the framework of Governmental Decree No. 43 (“On the creation of a territory of advanced social and economic development of Bolshoy Kamen, Primorskiy region”, issued on February 28, 2016). Implementation of the project will have a significant effect, will stimulate the formation of adjacent branches and will become an essential component for the overall development of the region.
Concerning the localization of construction of marine power industry complexes, ZVEZDA-ENERGETIKA, JSC is a primary partner of General Electric. According to the commercial director Alexei Andreev, the Company is content with the strategic partnership with General Electric, an enterprise which has a huge experience in power engineering sector. “We are thankful for trusting our Company and choosing us as partners in equipment localization; both market situation today and governmental import substitution policy create the required conditions for the development of the new types of products and localization of high tech equipment in Russia”, Andreev underlines.
Construction works are carried out within the framework of the long-term cooperation program (started in 2016) between Rosneft and General Electric (USA). Provision of equipment to the shipbuilding cluster is supposed by the program. The companies have signed contracts on the development, certification and localization of marine electric power systems and rudder propellers production with the capacity of up to 15 MW. There are also plans to reach global markets within the cooperation.
The project involves integration of the innovative technological solutions for construction Afromax class gas and oil tankers as well as ships-warehouses. An increase in the level of ships localization and marine equipment under construction is also forecast.
